Learning to be content in All circumstances

IMG_2363

I am guilty of not always being content with the seasons of life I find myself in. I can recall multiple moments of breaking down and crying unto the Lord asking, “But why me, why do I have to have such difficult life, why can’t I ever have a moment of peace and rest, why don’t I have any help with my children, or why can’t I enjoy a peaceful vacation with my husband? I work hard; I deserve to rest!”

Thankfully, I can testify that I have now learned the secret to being content in both the good and difficult seasons. True contentment is found when we learn to be thankful in ALL circumstances and not focus on other people’s blessings. What God has for Me is for Me, what he has for You is for You and what he has for the next sister is for Her!

God is in control; He knows what he is doing and sees the end from the beginning. God does not work according to our understanding of time; God works in seasons. There is a season to sow and a season to reap. We must learn to trust God and be joyful in whatever season we find ourselves in.

It has been about two years since I have been able to enjoy a family vacation, and about three and half years since I have enjoyed a solo get-a-way with my husband. But I am content with whatever work the Lord is choosing to do in me in this season. And I know my season will come. All in His perfect timing.

Since becoming a Christian, I do not believe in coincidences, but rather God-ordained moments instead. About halfway through writing this blog, I received a text message from one of my best friends asking me to keep her in prayer, she had just boarded a plane and was in route to her vacation destination. I smiled and wished her traveling mercies. 😊🌴

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NIV).

  1. I love this. What is for me is for me, what is for them is for them. I have had plenty and I have had it taken away and yet God is still good. He reminds me that he will take care of me and bless me to the next level when I walk according to his perfect plan for my life! Stay on track.
Love this Missy! Thank you for sharing.
